History

Chateau at Lookout was built in the mid 1930’s in beautiful Point Chautauqua, N.Y. Point Chautauqua is a creation of America’s celebrated landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmsted and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Olmsted plan of landscape design is also captured in NYC’s Central Park, US Capitol in Washinton, DC and the Biltmore Estate in NC. First established as a Baptist camp in the 1870’s, Point Chatauqua became a prime western NY vacation spot by the turn of the century.
Chateau at Lookout was once called Loon Lodge, a cozy, rustic boarding house and restaurant. Many locals still refer to it as Loon Lodge. Within the last 15 years, Chateau at Lookout has undergone an aesthetic renovation capturing an old world neoclassical design. The RED APARTMENT (first floor) and THE BLUE APARTMENT (second floor) echo the neoclassical design through of main residence with a twist of contemporary design and flair.
